TTG Int. LTD collaborated with Vodafone Turkey to develop Smart CapEX, an AI-based model proposing a solution to solve network capacity planning issues in telecommunications networks. The model includes forecasting, data under congestion calculation, and grid-based calculation. Smart CapEX uses LSTM, SARIMA, ARIMA, and Exponential Smoothing methods for forecasting and handles data under congestion by using all hourly-forecast data and congestion limits of each cell. The model calculates the total DUC in the grid and how many times the grid is congested and prioritizes grids based on estimates and blockages per cell. The model is implemented using data from Communication Service Providers in Turkey and the big data cluster with Apache Spark and Hadoop platforms. Four different methods were compared, and SARIMA model gave the best result of 68%. The model can be extended by combining data such as customer churn and price per gigabyte. The Smart CapEX model is expected to bring more efficient and reliable network services for customers.
